Treatment of Transposed Canines and First Premolars Using Miniscrew Anchorage

Dr. Kook and colleagues present a technique for moving transposed canines and first premolars into their normal positions without extraction. A miniscrew is used to anchor traction of the canine, while the premolar is moved distally with a lever arm from a long-hook bracket.

Older women on bisphosphonate therapy are increasingly seeking orthodontic treatment. The authors review current evidence regarding the biological characteristics of postmenopausal women and the potential effects of BPs on tooth movement. Recommendations are provided for managing such patients.

This Pearl demonstrate the addition of active .035" cobalt chrome anterior extensions to a rapid palatal expander for correction of an anterior crossbite associated with a skeletal Class III malocclusion. Other appliances can be applied simultaneously for alignment.

Class II Correction with Carriere Motion 3D Appliance and Clear Aligner Therapy

The Carriere Motion 3D can be used to establish a Class I dental relationship before proceeding with full orthodontic treatment. This Class II case was completed with only four months of the Carriere Motion and intermaxillary elastics, followed by eight months of clear aligners.
