In this case, orthognathic surgery involving a three-piece Le Fort I segmental osteotomy and a bilateral sagittal split osteotomy with mandibular advancement is followed by seven months of orthodontic clear aligner therapy and a short phase of fixed appliances.

A study by Dr. Manoharan and colleagues is designed to evaluate the effects of a four-mini-implant-supported maxillary expander using cone-beam computed tomography. Skeletal, dental, and airway measurements are compared against the results obtained with a conventional bonded Hyrax expander.

Recent technological advances in thermoactivated and superelastic wires and skeletal anchorage have enabled simpler compensatory orthodontic treatment of skeletal Class III patients without extractions or orthognathic surgery. In this case, the authors use passive self-ligating brackets and extra-alveolar mandibular skeletal anchorage.
