Introducing Digital Shorts and JCO+

We are pleased to announce the official launch of our Digital Shorts section, part of the new JCO+ section of our website, which combines all digital subscriber benefits in one easy-to-find place.

Digital Shorts are 5- to 20-minute-long videos that explore orthodontic topics at an intermediate level of depth. They join our two other types of videos: Digital Pearls, which offer brief clinical tips and can be accessed from an issue’s online table of contents, and in-depth, hour-long webinars, which can now be found in their own section under the JCO+ tab.

I encourage you to check out the currently available Digital Shorts to get an idea of the wide variety of subjects and formats we will provide. Dr. Neal Kravitz gives a six-minute lecture on bracket substitution, Dr. Tito Norris hosts a nine-minute tour of his LED-certified office, and Dr. Jonathan Nicozisis delivers a 19-minute lecture, “Managing Missing U2s.” You’ll also find a demonstration of sculpting gingival tissue from Dr. Trevor Nichols and an 11-minute dissertation from Dr. Ravi Nanda on several biomechanical principles in a Q&A format.

Upcoming videos include a detailed contouring demonstration and a brief frenectomy demonstration from Dr. Nichols, as well as “Early Deep-Bite Correction with Aligners for Class II Cases” from Dr. Willy Dayan, “Creating an In-House Snore Appliance Using Essix Retainers” from Dr. Adam Weiss, and “Reverse Headgear Modification to Minimize Skin Irritation” from Dr. Tim Dumore. Notifications of new Digital Shorts will appear in our print issues.

Our Digital Shorts and Digital Pearls also provide an opportunity for you to get your own work in front of the orthodontic community. If you have an idea to share but writing an article seems too daunting, please contact Dr. Krystian Jarosz (jaroszorthodontics@gmail.com), our Digital Shorts Editor, and we can work with you to present your insights to our community of subscribers. All you need is a phone camera. Creators of Digital Shorts and Digital Pearls will receive PubMed credit.

The next time you visit our website, you’ll notice the new JCO+ tab in our menu. Along with our Digital Shorts, the entire article archive and all of our webinars can be found by clicking here. For easy access, the Archive and Current Issue options will also remain in the main menu.

The JCO+ reorganization also improves our webinar registration process. In addition to streamlining registration for subscribers, the update allows all individuals who have access to JCO through an institutional subscription to register to attend a webinar live and watch recordings of all past webinars, so long as they are accessing JCO from an approved location. If you have not checked out any of our webinars, I highly recommend taking a look. Nonsubscribers must pay $80 to watch past webinars or $100 to attend one live; like the articles in our Archive, nearly all Digital Shorts and Digital Pearls are limited to subscribers and must be purchased individually for $10 each. JCO subscribers, of course, get access to all of this for free, so please take advantage of your subscription at www.jco-online.com.

We hope you enjoy the new Digital Shorts subscription benefit. Thank you for your subscription and for your support!
