Extrusion of Ankylosed Maxillary First Molars Using a Boneborne Vertical Distractor

A vertical periodontal ligament distractor is described by Dr. Schmid-Herrmann and colleagues for use in patients with ankylosed upper first permanent molars. The appliance consists of two Beneplates welded together, an open expansion screw, and a cantilever arm to erupt the ankylosed tooth after luxation.
