Fabricating an Interproximal Strip Holder

We present here a simple and economical way of fabricating an interproximal strip holder from routine lab materials.

  1. Form two closed loops, about 5mm apart, in a length of.032" or .036" stainless steel wire (A).
  2. Form another closed loop approximately 25mm from thesecond loop (B)
  3. Bend a handle to complete the frame (C)
  4. Secure the interproximal strip by inserting it throughthe closed loops (D). The strip holder is then ready to use(E)

A double-sided strip has slightly better retention than asingle-sided strip because of its thickness. The strip usually remains tautunless the loops have been placed too far apart.
