Infrared Light Device

OrthoPulse lite is a newly released light-based device employing the same photobiomodulation therapy as the original Ortho­Pulse system but in a more affordable, compact form. Using near-infrared light, the device is designed to stimulate bone remodeling and accelerate tooth movement, according to the company; it is intended to be used for 10 minutes a day for treatment with either aligners or braces.

Specialty Appliances has introduced OnBRACE, a metal, laser-­sintered fixed appliance that saddles the posterior teeth without interproximal metal intrusion, eliminating the need for separators. According to the company, the OnBRACE system, coupled with expansion appliances, can address a wide range of orthodontic concerns, including crowding, crossbites, and narrow arches. Its controlled, predictable expansion allows for customization, as an alternative to traditional expanders.

Intraoral Scanner

Medit has recently released the i900 Mobility intraoral scanner, along with an app, Medit Link Express, for use with an iPad. According to product specifications, the new technology allows dental professionals to work without a dedicated PC, supporting a mobile workflow that can be used across multiple chairs or rooms and in mobile dentistry or conference settings, while ensuring clinical accuracy. The app is intended to support scan management and case handling directly from the iPad interface.
