This beautifully illustrated book, edited by Dr. Derek Steinbacher with contributions mainly from the faculty at Yale University Medical Center, provides a wide-ranging discussion of esthetic orthognathic procedures, along with in-depth coverage of multiple aspects of rhinoplasty. The cases are uniformly well treated, the cone-beam computed tomography photos are informative, and the case descriptions are helpful.
Much of the content is tailored to plastic and reconstructive surgeons, as well as oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Orthodontists would probably find the chapters on asymmetry, genioplasty, and submental liposuction to be highly informative and helpful, both in treatment planning and in anticipating potential esthetic outcomes. For those looking to understand all aspects of rhinoplasty, from evaluation through current techniques, this book may well serve as the definitive resource.

This second edition contains a multitude of questions and answers, along with detailed explanations to increase the reader’s understanding. The 26 comprehensive chapters cover topics ranging from the history of orthodontics to TMJ dysfunction to the use of computers in orthodontics. Line drawings and images accompany the questions to help explain and define the concepts. References are supplied for many of the answers, providing an opportunity for further study. This textbook would be a solid aid for students preparing for board examination, as well as a valuable resource for clinicians and staff wanting to test and improve their own knowledge of orthodontics.
