THE EDITOR'S CORNER

Changing of the Guard

This month marks Larry White's last issue as Editor of JCO. For more than 13 years, he has served the profession with distinction in that position. He has written countless editorials, interviews, and book reviews, some of which appear in this issue. He has made substantial contributions to the literature, especially in the areas of diagnosis, TMD therapy, bonding, non-compliance treatment, patient motivation, and staff management. He has encouraged innovators with new ideas and breakthrough technologies to introduce them in these pages. He has traveled around the word as an ambassador for JCO and American orthodontics.

In his writing, editing, and lecturing, Dr. White has placed particular emphasis on correcting misconceptions of form and function that continue to hold sway in dentistry. His last Editor's Corner, "Thinking Outside the Box" (JCO, September 2001), was a prime example, although his wide-ranging editorial on "The Past, Present, and Future Perfect Profession" (JCO, August 2001) may be considered his valedictory address.

We expect to complete our search for a new Editor by the spring of 2002. In the meantime, our capable Senior Editor and staff, supported by the outstanding orthodontists whose names appear on the left, will continue to bring you the latest developments in clinical orthodontics each month.
