Conventional transpalatal arches often create deep grooves in patients' tongues (Fig. A). A minor modification, requiring only a few minĀutes of lab time, can eliminate such discomfort in cases where expansion is not required, as when intruding maxillary incisors. Simply fill in the central loop with acrylic, which can be cusĀtomized according to the patient's interests (Fig. B).
