Removing Bonded Retainers

Here is an easy technique for removing a bonded maxillary 3-3 retainer with multiple pads. Instead of grinding with a diamond bur or struggling with debonding instruments, use a Jarabak or similar long, pointed-nose plier. Place the tips between the cuspid and lateral incisor pads, and roll the plier mesially while pressing toward the lingual surfaces of the teeth.

As simple as opening a can of sardines, this method removes the entire retainer in seconds.
