Clinical Motivation of the Functional Jaw Orthopedic Patient

If you use habit breaking devices for the correction of thumb and finger sucking habits, you might be interested in this design. This habit breaker is made by soldering a tongue crib to maxillary first molar bands. What makes this one unique, and fun for the patient, is that it has the patient's initials in the tongue crib area. The patients are always excited about this, and I feel it makes wearing this device more palatable (excuse the pun) for them. Check with your lab to make sure they know how to make this device, but it is quite easy.
