Dr. Newman has been a pioneer in researching adhesives and attachment materials in search of a system for bonding orthodontic attachments directly to teeth. As adjunct Research Professor at the Newark College of Engineering and as a practicing orthodontist, Dr. New; man has been carrying on his investigations in the re search laboratory and in clinical practice since the early 1960s. The material for this article was developed in part in preparation for lectures and courses given by Dr. Newman at the Columbia University Division of Orthodontics.
