THE EDITOR'S CORNER

As JPO begins its second year of publication we are no longer an unknown quantity. The profession has been able to judge us by what we have printed. It has become clearer that we are only indirectly interested in research; that we have almost no interest in politics; that our only aim is to present good material on the practical aspects of orthodontic treatment and practice administration.

It is also clear that we are an independent. Therein may lie our strength. We are not affiliated with any society or group. We have no allegiance to any one technique or philosophy. We are an open forum for all techniques and philosophies. This does not mean that we are just a middle-man for material. We have gone to great lengths to stimulate material, to create new formats, to design projects, to shape the material that we present. We have a dream of what JPO should eventually be and we work toward that end.

When we invite the participation of the profession, we are sincere. We really want JPO to be a window on the orthodontic world. We really believe that we all can learn from each other. We welcome treatment articles, practice administration articles, case reports, technique reports, ideas, and new approaches to old problems. The advancement of practical information in our field will make life easier for the orthodontist and his patient.

If there is one summary of who we are and what we are about, it can be found in a paraphrase of the eloquent statement of the late Robert F. Kennedy: Some men see things as they are and say why. We see things that never were and say why not.
