The combination of an open bite with an asymmetrical skeletal Class III malocclusion poses a significant challenge to the orthodontist. Patients with dentofacial deformities often require an interdisciplinary approach involving orthodontics and orthognathic surgery to address skeletal, dental, and soft-tissue dysplasia in all three planes of space.
