The objective of debonding is to remove the attachments and all the adhesive resin while restoring the tooth surface as closely as possible to its original condition. For minimal damage to the enamel surface, the bond failure should occur at the bracket-adhesive interface or within the adhesive itself, rather than at the enamel-adhesive interface.
