Lower-Dose Imaging

The convex-triangle field of view of the Veraviewepocs 3D R100 imaging unit more closely matches the natural dental archform, thus reducing patient radiation exposure by excluding areas outside the region of interest, according to the manufacturer. The unit produces high-resolution, 125-micrometer-voxel images and has a special dose-reduction mode that limits the exposure of soft tissues. Standard panoramic and cephalometric images can be taken as well.

Lead-Free Apron

Reversible bronze/charcoal lead-free aprons and ponchos from DUX Dental are designed to show less wear than the usual lighter-colored aprons. The leadfree alloy sheeting provides protection equivalent to that of standard lead aprons, but weighs 3½ pounds less and is 100% recyclable, containing no toxic metals, according to the company.

Self-Ligating Appliances

Damon Clear appliances are now available for the mandibular incisors and canines as well as for the maxillary arch. The passive self-ligating brackets are manufactured using the same materials and design as the maxillary esthetic appliances for a uniform appearance, function, and stain resistance, according to the company.

The Quest handpieces feature long-life, lowmaintenance ceramic bearings; stainless steel exteriors with a subtle grip design for easy cleaning; and optional twin-beam fiberoptics for shadow-free illumination, according to the company. Compact and full-size heads are available with four-hole, fivehole, non-optic swivel, or optic swivel couplings.
